The older kids all had a field trip (overnight!) today, so we spent the morning getting them ready and to school. They made sure to sing "happy birthday" to Levi at breakfast. They were all very upset to be away on his birthday, but we assured them that we would do cupcakes with Levi after supper (like we always do on birthdays), and then we'll all have a party for him on the weekend (tomorrow, actually) with our friends at their farm. They were happy with that, and off they went.

And once I can get some pictures to work I'll tell you all about his birthday. (You can imagine me hitting my head off a wall here.)

Yay! Pictures are working again. User error, I assure you!

After the kids were off to school, I started making the cupcakes. Levi helped.
We had to pick up a few things in town, so we took Levi out for a birthday lunch. Some waiters at the restaurant sang a birthday song to him and he got a special birthday dessert - a gummy worm and a BIG cookie. Really. Big. Bigger than his face.

After shopping (and a lot of sugar for dessert) we came home for a nap. Well, Levi anyway.
Supper was meant to be pasta... but Levi woke up and decided to have a muffin and cheese. Ah well, can't win 'em all. Cupcakes followed supper, with Nana and Papa on speaker phone to sing "Happy Birthday" along with us.
After cupcakes and a quick clean up, he wanted to talk to Nana and Papa on the phone. We didn't realize how much he's missing them until it was time to say goodbye.
I guess it's a good thing that they'll be here to visit us in just a few short weeks!
Though it seems like it ended on a sad note, I think Levi had a good birthday. And there's more celebration tonight!
